Parties and Beaches

You can choose between two places to live in Sydney: if you like going out, it’s better to stay in the city; if you are a surfer, you stay near the beach. Guess what? We are in the middle of the city centre, where everything happens. Mostly at night.
After one week of going to club and bars, I realized that in the 20 days we are here, it will still be impossible to cover all of Sydney. In fact, I don’t think you could do that if you were here for a whole year! So I took the last weekend to get to know the beaches. I went to Coogee Beach, Manly and the famous Bondi Beach. Wow! Amazing. The first one is a small beach, white sand and a surfers sea – I mean, it’s not so good for some less experienced to swim in; lots of waves and strong currents. In fact, that is not such a bad idea, since they have, well, strong, lifeguards! Just kidding, but here the water is not freezing like in Cape Town, so it’s really good to get refreshed from the heat of the sun. Well, the sun hasn’t been coming out very much this December in Sydney, but… Anyway, we went to Manly Beach on Saturday. The entire trip is a nice thing to do. You have to travel 30 minutes in a ferry where the view includes the Sydney Opera House and a boat race if you’re lucky. Beautiful. Getting to Manly, you don’t even need to know where is the beach – just follow the flow of people. Lots of people go there to camp, or to enjoy the real party that is this beach on a Saturday morning. From the ferry to the beach, it seems that you are walking in a peregrination! Then on the next day we went to the famous Bondi Beach. We weren’t lucky; the weather was really windy. Even the sand hurts you or goes into your mouth, nose and eyes. I don’t know if it’s always like this, but they do have a tent to rent – a necessary accessory at this beach. I will have to try a better day to define this beach.
But Sydney is a complete city: liking beach or liking nightlife, you will enjoy it!
